Dr. Christian Beddies serves as Chairman of BridgeFort Capital Group, a rapidly expanding Southern African FinTech platform with operations across insurance, savings and investments, credit, and funeral services. Under his leadership, the Management Team and Board are progressing toward a JSE AltX listing.
Christian is also the Nonexecutive Director and Chair of the Credit Committee at CBZ Bank Zimbabwe, and a Nonexecutive Director at Linar Microinsurance South Africa. He further advises as Partner and Economic Advisor at Progility Consult Zimbabwe.
A seasoned economist, Christian spent more than two decades at the International Monetary Fund, where he served as Mission Chief to the Kyrgyz Republic, relaunched the IMF office in Harare in 2014, and later led the IMF mission to Eritrea before retiring in 2019.
He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Queen Mary & Westfield College, University of London, and an M.A. in Economics from Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich.
As Chairman of BridgeFort Capital Group, he is committed to working closely with the Board, CEO, and senior management to drive the Group’s vision: mobilising capital for infrastructure, inclusive financial services, and green energy — in Africa, for Africa.
